Sophie Dowsett is a solicitor from Tāmaki Makaurau, currently practising in finance law. She has a background in human rights law and policy, both in Aotearoa and abroad, including at a New Zealand government inquiry, the United Nations in Vienna, and a human rights NGO in New York.

As well as SSBD, Sophie also volunteers as a researcher for climate action non-profit, Climate Club, and tutors for Rural Youth and Adult Literacy Trust. In her spare time, she can be found browsing second-hand book stores on the look out for new additions to her queer book collection.
