SUPPORT US
Samesame but Different provides queer writers with visibility and a platform to lead discussion on important issues. It celebrates inclusion in the selection of its guests and in the diversity of its audiences. It amplifies voices that need to be heard.
To help keep our festival thriving, we invite those who can afford it to donate to us.
Donations over $250 will qualify for Patron status – details below.

WHAT DONATIONS SUPPORT
PAYING OUR TALENT
Our festival’s board is run entirely by unpaid volunteers.
However we take great pride in paying the presenters who appear at our festival, and the people providing vital support in its creation.
If they’re located outside of Auckland, we fly and accommodate our presenters while they’re here for the festival.
The 2023 Programme will employ a team of 23 LGBTQIA+ writers living and working in Aoteaora.
KEEPING OUR EVENTS FREE
Accessibility is a priority for our festival, and as such we’ve made a commitment to keep our events free to attend wherever possible.
Only one of the eleven events in our 2023 Programme is ticketed – the staged poetry production Show Ponies.

BECOME A PATRON
While donations of all sums are, of course, welcome, becoming a Patron involves donating a specific amount. In return, we’ll recognise your contribution in several ways.
Those who’ve donated $250 or more before our 2023 Programme kicks off on February 21, 2023 are eligible for Patron status.
Patrons for the 2023 Programme will receive:
– A Patron’s Pack, containing special Samesame But Different merchandise.
– Recognition on our website and on a display at the Ellen Melville Centre during the festival weekend.
If you’d like to become a Patron to our 2023 festival, please get in touch – we’d love to hear from you.
