Aroha Edward Awarau is a Māori (Ngati Maru/Ngati Porou), Niuean and Samoan writer and storyteller with an acclaimed career as a journalist, playwright and film writer. Aroha has worked as an award-winning journalist, editor and producer for Women’s Day, New Zealand Woman’s Weekly and Maori Television’s Native Affairs. He’s also written several multi-award winning plays, including Luncheon, Officer 27 and Provocation. His acclaimed short films Home and Disrupt have been screened both in Aotearoa and at festivals worldwide.
